When we met the Attorney's three years ago, they asked John to do a documentary on A&E. John and I weren't sure how we felt about it, so the Attorney gave us a week to think about it. We went back and forth, weighing the pros and the cons.
When our week was up John said, "I don't care" which usually meant "no". I, however, seeing the benefits of a story being shared with thousands of people, encouraged him to do it.
The Attorney told John that it would be good to get his story out despite how his trial goes. John gave the yes and a few months later he started filming. I opted not to be on it because my youngest was still in High School. John's original trial date was scheduled for May of 2023, until the State decided to ask for a continuance based on our expert witness report.
Trial was then set for September of 2023 until a conflict of schedules arose and it was pushed back again.
The film crew came back out in January (2024) to start filming and with my youngest being out of school in May I decided to film. I wanted to show my support but protect my children at the same time.
I was kind of excited to sit next to John and share in his story. After all, most of this was my fault. We talked about how we met, how will the last 5 years have been, and how neither of us expected our future to be shattered.
I was then interviewed alone with a big camera shoved in my face. The only thing I could do was laugh. I was unprepared for how awkward this was going to be. One of the producers was filming and the other one was asking questions. I truly had no idea how difficult filming would be. I will never be camera ready.

I am sure you did fine and I bet it was challenging. I believe you both will be happy to get his story out there. I pray it helps!!
